MatCHMaker project experts and EMMC representatives will convene in Paris for the Final Exploitation Workshop, bringing expertise in materials modelling, characterisation and AI-driven research to a global audience. Under the theme “Unlocking the Future of Data-Driven Collaboration: Shaping the Horizon of Open Science and Industry Innovation”, the event underscores the consortium’s commitment to open, interoperable digital infrastructures bridging science, industry and policy.
The MatCHMaker consortium is pleased to announce the Final Exploitation Workshop, organised in cooperation with the European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC). The event will take place on 29 May 2026 in Paris as a hybrid workshop hosted by CEA. It will bring together researchers, industry representatives and policy stakeholders to explore how data-driven approaches can advance materials modelling, characterisation and AI-enabled innovation in the context of open science and shared digital infrastructures.
The workshop will present the key scientific and technical results of the MatCHMaker project. It will showcase the MatCHMaker Open Repository and the AI/ICT tools developed within the project to support more efficient and interoperable materials research workflows. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how these tools can be used in practice and how they interface with existing research and industrial environments.
In addition, the workshop will address pathways for exploitation and long-term sustainability of the project outcomes. It will examine how MatCHMaker results can be scaled and integrated into established industrial and research infrastructures, and how they can contribute to broader European strategies on open science, research data management and digitalisation. The programme will include expert-led sessions that discuss open data policies, ontologies and the challenges of maintaining and evolving digital research infrastructures over time.
The event will also feature contributions from sister projects funded under the same Horizon Europe call. These projects will share their experiences and lessons learned in materials modelling and characterisation, highlighting synergies and potential areas for collaboration. A dedicated focus will be placed on Materials Commons as a possible exploitation pathway, illustrating how this infrastructure can support long-term reuse, integration and valorisation of project results across different sectors and initiatives.
Throughout the day, participants will be able to engage in panel discussions, attend practical demonstrations and take part in structured networking sessions. These interactions will offer opportunities to connect with peers from industry, academia and policy organisations, to explore future collaborations and to identify potential joint exploitation activities. The workshop is particularly relevant for professionals involved in materials modelling, characterisation, artificial intelligence, research data infrastructures and EU-funded research and innovation initiatives.
Further information regarding the detailed programme, invited speakers, panel compositions and registration procedures will be provided in due course. Interested stakeholders are invited to save the date and to consider their participation in this final MatCHMaker exploitation workshop in Paris.
